The REDS Fund is a source of flexible grant funding for REDS member businesses.
Who is the REDS Fund for?
The REDS Fund is exclusively available to REDS member businesses.
Membership of REDS costs £10 p/m and 100% of membership fees are contributed to the REDS Fund.
REDS is a community of rural and island businesses championing each other, collaborating to grow their businesses and collectively building a pot of sustained economic support that can be accessed by their community long into the future.
At this time, we are accepting funding applications from REDS members who have not been eligible for any of the COVID-19 Government support schemes and who are facing genuine hardship. As the fund grows, we will broaden the eligibility criteria to accept applications from all REDS members.
The fund is administered under a unique 50/50 principle which helps to ensure money continues to circulate through the rural business community and our members collaborate with each other. Wherever possible we will split your grant award with another REDS member business which can complete the services you require. Find out more about the 50/50 principle in our FAQ.
The REDS Fund has been designed to be quick and easy for REDS members to access. Please see the below list of eligibility criteria which applicants must meet in order for their request to be considered.

● Applicants must be a member of the REDS community. - REDS Members are micro and small businesses, including social enterprises and the self-employed, operating in rural Scotland. We define this more clearly as businesses with fewer than 10 FTE staff, turnover below £500k, and not based in a town or city with a population over 25,000.
● At this time, the REDS Fund is only available to REDS members who have not been eligible for any of the COVID-19 Government support schemes and who are facing genuine hardship.
● Grants from the REDS Fund are intended to be used to purchase equipment, undertake work or cover necessary expenses which will strengthen a business or ensure its continued operation. In your application please outline clearly how you intend to spend the money and how this benefits your business and/or local community in the long-term.
● At this time, we are accepting applications for up to £1000 of funding support. We will aim to split this funding 50/50 with another REDS member business which will undertake your outlined project, if possible.
