An interview with Tracey Taylor, Taylored Massage Tayside

Tracey runs Taylored Massage Tayside, providing massage-based treatments to a wide range of clientele for a variety of issues, or for pure relaxation.

It is important to take time out for yourself, to stay grounded and clear headed.

Where in rural Scotland are you based and what do you love about living and working there?

I’m in Coupar Angus and Perth, which provide good road links for clients, all of whom are fabulous people!

When did you set up your rural business, and what inspired you to start it?

I started treatments in approx 2010, inspired by an osteopath, who mentioned that there was a deficit of good non-beauty therapists, providing an intermediary between discomfort or pain and the osteopath and/or doctor.

What is the biggest challenge you face or have faced running your business in rural Scotland?

The biggest challenge has been the location of my premises. Having started at home, where the roads are regularly blocked or untreated during the winter, a need arose to find suitable alternatives. The covid pandemic reinforced the choice for Coupar Angus.

What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

Being able to give up being employed, and passing the latest set of exams

How do you look after your own health and wellbeing while running your business, and why do you think this is so important?

I try to take time out to spend it with my husband and furbabies (1 cat and 3 sight hounds, all rescues). I am planning on getting back into my running this summer, which provides some good head space, which is much needed after a busy week. It is important to take time out for yourself, to stay grounded and clear headed.
